Home / Direct Access Direct AccessUnder the new Direct Access Scheme, it is now possible for lay and professional clients to instruct a barrister on criminal matters directly without first having to engage the services of a solicitor. Members of the public can now seek legal advice and representation directly from a barrister. This means that you may be able to avoid the extra charges of a solicitor by instructing the Bar directly. However, this will only be the case if the services of a solicitor are not required. Most of our Barristers are trained to accept instructions directly from professional or lay clients, without the need to engage the services of a solicitor. Please refer to our list of Barristers below who have all undertaken Direct Access Training and if you would like to find out if you can instruct one of our barristers directly, please contact our clerks, at 020 7842 1900 or e-mail clerks@15nbs.com. |
