Tim Banks of 15NBS secured the acquittal of Mr DS in a case termed the 'caustic soda rape'. Mr DS was charged, along with six co-defendants, on an indictment containing three counts; one count of vaginal rape, one count of oral rape and one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The victim was a young woman with significant learning difficulties.
The prosecution case essentially was that on the 9th January 2008 the victim was taken to an address in north London. There she was gang-raped before dry caustic soda and water were thrown on her. This final act caused burns to 50% of her body area.

Mr. DS relied on a defence of alibi. He was the only defendant at trial to rely on this defence. On the 8th December 2008 Mr DS was found not guilty on all the charges he faced. Three co-defendants were convicted of various offences and were sentenced on 19th January 2009.
