Brian St Louis Prevents First Ever Murder Retrial Based on “supergrass” Evidence![]() R -v G(G) before the Hughes LJ, Vice President of the Court of Appeal Criminal Division. After 3 days of legal argument Brian St.Louis led by Nigel Rumfitt QC succeeded in preventing a "double jeopardy" murder retrial in what could have been the first case of its kind under UK law. The Crown sought to re-try Mr G under s76 of the CJA 2003. Mr G faced the prospect of being tried a second time for the same murder. The point arose after M was convicted of a murder and G acquitted. M later decided to give evidence against G implicating him in 2 murders. M is Operation Trident's first ever Super Grass. Brian St.Louis is happy to advise on double jeopardy legislation where needed, please contact a clerk on 020 7842 1900 or email clerks@15nbs.com
