Kyri Argyropoulos & Archangelo Power Secure Acquittal at Close of 10-Handed 5 Month Prosecution![]() Kyri Argyropoulos leading Archangelo Power (both non-panel advocates) secured the acquittal of AK after a prosecution case lasting 2 days short of 5 months in a trial for conspiracy to supply cocaine. At the close of the Prosecutions case the Crown did not contest a submission of no case to answer against AK (alone) and he was acquitted on 8th June 2009 with costs awarded in his favour. The trial of the other 9 continues. The acquittal occurred despite the fact that, in opening, it was suggested that AK was running a major arm of a huge drugs conspiracy in North London involving many tens of thousands of hours of observation evidence. However after cross examination on various key areas and several successful exclusion arguments the case against AK lay, objectively, in tatters. Kyri Argyropoulos and Archangelo Power were both instructed very late in the day due to the problems with VHCC funding. However this did not prevent several successful submissions prior to the conclusion of the prosecutions case (many of which were uncontested by the Crown) after service of several lengthy skeleton arguments. 8 July 2009 |
