Anand Beharrylal secures unanimous acquittal in alleged Rape and Firearms case![]() Anand Beharrylal appeared for the first defendant in a two handed case involving kidnapping, multiple counts of rape, sexual assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence before the Crown Court at Snaresbrook.
The defence vigorously challenged the credibility, character and evidence of the complainant as being wholly untruthful. The supporting evidence was also challenged as being a combination of mistaken and exaggerated accounts. It was elicited in cross-examination that the complainant was in fact a drug dealer and was in the middle of a drugs deal at the time of the alleged kidnapping. The complainant's allegations were also challenged, where the first defendant was concerned, as having arisen in the context of her drug use and drug dealing.
