Patrick Moran successfully prosecutes high profile con artist

Patrick Moran was instructed by the C.P.S. Central Fraud Unit from the outset of the prosecution of Faisal Madani, a case which began in 2009. The allegations against the Defendant involved a complex web of offences, many of which involved high profile individuals from the world of professional sports. As the case developed, the prosecution team grew to include Queen's counsel. The Defendant pleaded guilty to all counts shortly before his trial was due to commence.

On 23.03.2012 Sue Patten (Head of the C.P.S. Central Fraud Group) issued the following statement:

"The prosecution mounted a strong case against Faisal Madani which he has now accepted by pleading guilty today to 24 charges relating to the use of 150 illicitly obtained credit card details. In pleading guilty, he has admitted defrauding a number of individuals whose credits cards he dishonestly used for substantial sums.

"Faisal Madani was due to stand trial at Southwark Crown Court on 10 April 2012 after two years of intensive work by CPS, counsel and police following his arrest in October 2009.
"Credit card fraud is a very serious offence causing significant financial and emotional consequences for the innocent victims and today's case demonstrates the ability of the CPS to bring these fraudsters to justice."
