John Burton

1979

John practices as a Criminal Defence Barrister. His main practice is as a Leading Junior and in the last few years he has specialised in cases involving allegations of terrorism. He has acted as Leading Junior for Omar Brooks who was famous for his confrontation with John Reid, the then Home Secretary. He was named "lawyer of the week" by the Times for his successful appeal in the case of Samina Malik, "the Lyrical Terrorist". John also acts as a leading Junior in cases of Murder, Attempted Murder, Serious Fraud, Money Laundering, Serious Sexual Offences and Serious Drug Offences. He also appears regularly in professional disciplinary cases and in civil actions against the police.
