Ruth Zentler-Munro
2004
Ruth cut her teeth on the standard criminal fare and is now instructed in relation to more serious offences, including GBH, conspiracy to supply and benefit fraud. Ruth both defends and prosecutes and has amassed enough experience to be equally proficient at each. Experienced in extradition and mutual legal assistance, she also gained appellant court experience (both appeals against sentence and appeals against conviction) and has been praised for her ‘careful and forceful' submissions by the Court of Appeal in the case of R v Harvey [2009] Archbold News, Issue 4, May, EWCA Crim 469.
Recent Cases- R v Zarma Successfully defended 15 year old charged with s18 GBH (multiple stab wounds). This case entailed several interesting points of law, including whether the proceedings were an abuse of process as a result of the Crown reneging on a promise
Inner London Crown Court, June 2010 - R v Smicle Successfully defended a defendant charged with s20 GBH- he was alleged to have broken a police officer's foot while attempting to escape. Acquittal secured despite facing evidence from 5 police officers
West London Crown Court, June 2010 - R v St Louis Successfully defended client who maintained that he was not guilty because the police had planted the drugs found on him
Harrow Crown Court, June 2010 - R v Robertson Successfully defended a client charged with 2 robberies. This case was interesting because it was at the outermost limits of what can be said to constitute (or not constitute) joint enterprise
Luton Crown Court, June 2010
Forthcoming CasesR v A Representing a client charged with a gang sexual assault of a young girl R v Reid and Mezoui Prosecuting a violent disorder involving a succession of attacks and counterattacks R v Aslam An amusing case involving theft and impersonation of a police officer!
