Stephen Sweeney2001Stephen Sweeney is a talented and experienced jury advocate who only defends crime. His caseload is, and has been, varied, and includes defence of extremely serious offences against the person (an area which he is well versed, including multiple stabbings and gangland attacks), numerous firearms offences and conspiracies to rob at gunpoint, drugs conspiracies and importations, kidnap and common-law escape. He has defended alone in cases of up to three months' duration and has exposure to the defence of fraud and money-laundering cases (multi-million pound allegations and those with extra-jurisdictional elements). He appears both in the UK and abroad at Courts-Martial Centres. He has some experience of defending sexual offences, including gang-rape. Stephen obtained his LLM in Theoretical and Comparative Criminal Law & Company Law, and was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in 2001. He is a member of the Criminal Bar Association.
